The architecture and design of Amani Beach Hotel Dar Es Salaam Tanzania is highly individual with Afro-Arabian style unique to the Swahili Coast providing tranquility, charm and character similar to the garden palaces of the past Sultans of Zanzibar.
The design and style of Amani is highly individual with Afro-Arabian style unique to the Swahili Coast, providing a charm and character typical to the garden palaces of the past Sultans of the East African Coast. Our 10 cottages with Makuti thatch all have ocean views. They are surrounded by Swahili gardens and indigenous forest park occupying 80 acres. Each air-conditioned cottage has its own verandah with a hammock to relax. The spacious bedroom is decorated by local furniture and large Zanzibari beds, leading to a huge en-suite bathroom consisting of ample built-in cupboards, twin basins, walk-in shower, bath and hair dryer.
Amani has two restaurants. The Amani Restaurant is situated in the main building where breakfast and dinner is served. They take pride in their cuisine with blends of exotic East African flavours. From this restaurant we serve breakfast and dinner. Breakfast is a choice of continental or full English. Pre-dinner drinks are served in the bar or lounge attached to the dining room. A four course dinner is served in a romantic candlelight setting under the stars (weather permitting) or under the Makuti roof.
Enjoy a cool cocktail with the sounds and gentle breeze from the ocean in the Mwimbi Beach bar & restaurant. Lunch is served al-fresco so you do not have to move too far away from the comfort of the swimming pool and beach.
Activities: Swimming in the large pool beside the sandy beach, tennis, petanque, volley ball, snorkeling, wind surfing or just catching a wave with a boogie board.
Walks - there are three species of monkeys and baboons to be seen and many species of birds. We recommend these walks in the early morning or late evening.
Riding can be arranged with the local Horse Club. A beach ride, romantic trail or adventure through the bush passing through the local village, enjoying the ambiance of the real Africa.
Local Ngalawa (canoe) rides can be arranged to explore the sunken ship and reef snorkeling. Snorkeling on the house reef is possible without a boat.
Turtle watching is seasonal but there are hatchings on a monthly basis. Amani Gomvu Village walks are an interesting way of seeing a community at grass-root level development. |
